Employmentality provides career consultation services such as career exploration, career development, and job searching services to local Oregonians.
Employmentality is all about the people it serves. We contract with Oregon’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program to help clients with disabilities and other barriers to employment find and seek meaningful careers.
Employmentality is a proud paperless company currently operating in Linn, Benton, and Lincoln Counties. We look to be good stewards of the land we serve!
This service is designed to help you figure out where your skills and talents would be best served. When a client isn’t quite sure, it’s time for a Career Exploration!
During this service, we’ll first want to sit down and get to know you. We’ll ask you questions meant to clarify your likes, dislikes, needs, how you best learn, and what sort of environments should be avoided. Together, we decide on at least three different themes or industries you want to explore. From there, we go and find experts in those fields who will meet with you and answer your questions.
After these informational interviews, you get to pick your favorite! Your choice should be a combination of what interests you most, but also what position you think best suits your unique needs and skills.
Once it’s time to begin a job search, your VR Counselor (VRC) will either initiate a Job Development or Job Search Assistance service for you. Job Development is usually for clients that need more assistance in their job search, such as help filling out applications or arranging interviews. Don’t worry, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to participate during Job Development! We’ll work with you to determine where and how your assistance will best aid your search.
If Job Development is more of a tag-team effort between you and us, consider a Job Search Assistance service as more of a mentorship role. In this case, we are teaching you how to perform your own job search. We will still be there to assist, but you can think of our role as more behind the scenes while you pursue the job you want.
Resumes, cover letters, and reference sheets are all things that make up a portfolio, and a winning portfolio is often the first impression you make to employers! While performing this service, we’ll meet with you and discuss your experience and past works. If you have an older portfolio, bring it with you! We’ll combine it with any new information and transform it all into a sleek portfolio that captures your skills.
Any time you have an interview, whether it’s an informational one during exploration or an interview for a job, we’ll offer you interview prep! This is where we sit down and discuss what kinds of questions we expect will come up. In an exploration, we’ll help you craft the best questions so you get the most out of your Career Exploration. While job searching, you’ll instead learn how to relate your answers to your previous experience, how to discuss strengths and weaknesses, and how to communicate succinctly, yet professionally.
So you’ve got the job you wanted. Congratulations! If your VRC determines you need job coaching, now it’s time we teach you how to keep that job. In this service, we’ll help you connect with your employer in meaningful ways, all to support your new role. Depending on your needs, this could be as simple as us coaching you how to approach your supervisor with a request, or it could mean we are right there alongside you as you train for the job.
We will always seek the employer’s permission before we come onsite, because we never want job coaching to be an unwelcome surprise to them or you! If permission is not granted, we will instead work with you outside of work to ensure you’re learning what you need to.
