Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our services? Our FAQ section has you covered. If you have further questions, feel free to reach out!

Can anyone work with Employmentality?

Yes! Employmentality now offers services to both Oregon Vocational Rehabilitation clients and the public. Keep in mind, the services we offer through VR are the services they ask us to provide. Our private services are offered to the public and have a greater variety of offerings.

What kinds of industries can Employmentality help me explore?

Employmentality has helped clients seek work in nearly every industry available in Oregon. Some top examples include the medical, engineering, IT, and music industries. But, there’s always more to explore, and we’re happy to take on the challenge!

Does working with Employmentality guarantee me my dream job?

No. We can help equip you with the tools you’ll need, but we can only work with what is available in your desired area(s). Your participation, as well as the job market, will play key roles in your job search.

What kinds of things can Personal Coaching help me with?

This fully customizable service is aimed to fit your needs. You choose what personal or professional topic you want to work on. We can coach you on etiquette, relationship building, time management, organization, stress management, or even listening to your problems and talking them out with you.

Please note, our Personal Coaching is not meant to replace any therapeutic, legal, or crisis services. While we can always help you look for those services, we will never accept work that could interfere with them.

What material is covered in the Computer Class for Beginners?

We are able to cover everything from step one, but it will depend on how much you already know. We can cover everything you’d need to know to perform basic computer tasks in everyday settings.

This includes navigating the web, learning file storage and organization, setting up video calls, understanding your computer’s basic programs and settings, and more. There are too many items to list, but if you are ever sat in front of a computer and told to perform a basic task, this course can cover it.

What sort of a resource can I be to your clients?

Whatever kind you want! At minimum, we hope to turn to you for questions about your field that we can’t answer ourselves. Some of our resources have personally mentored our clients as they got their start. Others have helped clients learn to start their own businesses. Whatever you are interested in offering, we’ll be thrilled to have you!

How do I become a Vocational Rehabilitation client?

If you feel you need Vocational Rehabilitation services, you’ll first want to look up the nearest office. Next, contact them and tell them you’re hoping for employment services from them. They will assess to see if you’re eligible, and if so, they will take it from there!

What if I finish exploring my themes in a Career Exploration, but still don't know what I want to do?

If you are a VR client in exploration, this will depend on how many hours your counselor approved for us to explore, and how many of those hours we have left. If we have time remaining, we can keep exploring! If not, we would need to request additional hours to explore. Keep in mind, approving more hours is VR’s decision, not Employmentality’s.

If you are a private client in exploration, we would discuss what themes you want to explore next. From there, we’ll provide you with an estimate of how many more hours we’ll need to arrange those explorations. You approve the hours, then we keep exploring!

When is the right time for Digital Structuring?

While private clients can request this at any time, we recommend doing so before your existing structures are too disorganized. If you’re struggling to find important documents in your system, that’s a good indicator things are too disorganized.

What if I want help with a service Employmentality doesn't offer?

It entirely depends on what help you want, and whether you’re a private client or VR client. For VR clients, we are bound by our contract with Oregon’s Vocational Rehabilitation program, which stipulates which services we can and cannot provide.

If you are a private client, tell us what kind of help you’re wanting. If it’s something we’re capable and qualified to help with, we’re happy to consider a custom service for you!

What are the participation expectations for Employmentality's services?

All of our services will require you to be involved. Some services, like Portfolio and Digital Structuring, don’t always require as much input from the client. Meanwhile, others like Job Development, Job Search Assistance, Job Coaching, Interview Prep, and Personal Coaching can’t be successful without you.

We expect our clients to communicate with us, show up to their appointments, and contribute to the day’s tasks with us. Our services are not designed for Employmentality to do the work for you without your help.

Employmentality is designed to help Oregonians with disabilities first figure out what career will best suit their needs. Once that is determined, we begin reaching out to the community and help clients search for work.

These services can sometimes be as simple as assisting with applications and follow-ups, but also extends to interview preparation, portfolio revisions, and coaching in how to request necessary accommodations. We want you to be happy, successful, and well-equipped in your new role, but we can’t do it without your help! Your participation helps us and your new team better understand how you learn and what you need.
